Graduate Student of Outdoor Recreation. JOB TITLE: Graduate Student of Outdoor Recreation. DEPARTMENT: Campus Recreation. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: The Graduate Student for Outdoor Recreation and Aquatics assists the Coordinator of Aquatics and Summer Programs with the organization and administration of the Outdoor Recreation programs.
Position requires some weekend and evening hours. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate the selection, hiring, training and supervision of Outdoor Recreation Staff. Create and revise staff training/program documents and other items related to the operation of the program, including staff handbooks, training manuals and trip waivers Create/modify extensive training program for Outdoor Recreation staff on safety procedures. Assist with overall development and growth of the Outdoor Recreation Program. Assist with trips and events, including scheduling staff, marketing, promotion and evaluation. Assist with the coordination of possible Outdoor Experience Orientation programs between Campus Recreation and New Student Experience. Respond to all phone and email messages in a timely manner. Keep full inventory and recommend new purchases for equipment lending and programming. The Department of Recreation. The master's degree must be completed within eight years from matriculation as a degree candidate. The graduate program director determines prerequisites for all incoming students. The Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. We offer two degree programs within the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management. Graduates of the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management Program can. Other duties as assigned. REPORTING LINEWork under the direct supervision of the Campus Recreation Coordinator of Aquatics and Summer Programs. QUALIFICATIONSThe Outdoor Recreation Graduate Student must be enrolled as a student at Montclair State University and have a current CPR and First Aid Certification. Any of the following certifications are preferred, but not required Lifeguard Certification, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, Wilderness First Aid/First Responder and/or ACA certifications. SKILLS REQUIREDThorough knowledge of Aquatics Handbook. A desire to promote Outdoor Recreation throughout Montclair State University Campus. Ability to learn and use with proficiency the suite of Microsoft applications, including WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS and Power. Point; e- mail and Class.
